Note: all of the photos on this site will open in a new browser window, if you click a link and nothing seems to happen it is not a bad link, look at your taskbar and click on the icon that is not indented.
Stocking shingles on the roof
The boom truck is a wonderful invention....it saved us 220 trips up and down the roof carrying shingles.
A view of the study looking South, we still have to add the skylights, bathroom, and closet.
Visqueen and insulation on the first layer, the 2x6 wall.
Self portrait of Don
The correct way to install an air-tight window: the hole, air infiltration barrier, caulk, protecto-wrap (kind of a bituminous membrane), flashing... equals tight.
Windows in....yes, 4 feet wide by 6 feet high, the Endless pool is below.
The scary way to install windows.....put Gretchen up there since she's climbed Mt. Mckinley 8 times!!!
The roof is almost finished.
The roof is finished, yeah buddy. June 30th, 2001
The windows are mostly in and we are waiting on doors and other pieces parts to enclose the house.
This is the study, it is hard to describe the rooms. There is a 3/4 bath as well as Gretchens area and my section and a closet.
This pic shows Chris Haagen standing under a tubular skylight in the master bath, they are way awesome. We will see how they perform this winter. The bathroom is 15 feet (4.5 meters) below the collector on the roof. The weather is cloudy and gray. That is not a light bulb it is the light from the sky.
This is looking up the tube.
The roof collector. We will be adding a second one to the left as soon as I can.
The garage door. We went with a Raynor door, this is an 8 foot high door instead of the usual 7 foot. We had extra height in our garage so we went with a taller door, the extra cost was minimal. Notice electric meter to far right.
