Finally, we get started on April 23rd, 8 days late. This series of pics shows the amount of dirt we moved to get down to the foundation level, amazing. There was an average of only 8 inches of frozen ground to remove. We were lucky this was a mild winter.

Drivway brushed in. The embryonic beginning. Tuesday, April 24th
Beginning of mud. You clean off that innocent grass and stuff and you find lots of mud on top of frozen ground, not permafrost though. Tuesday
Mountains in the distance. We really do have mountains here. That is Pioneer peak in the distance. Tuesday
Sort of a hole. The beginning of a hole in the ground. First we have to remove the frozen ground. Wednesday
Looking like a basement. The rough cut of the basement. I am standing about the grade of the basement slab. Thursday
Oh yes,m the footers. We are getting ready to fine grade the footers, here in Southcentral Alaska the footer depth has to be 42 inches or greater. Friday
Pool?. The backhoe is sitting in Gretchen's pool! As you can see it will be a while before she is swimming. Saturday

Gee, can we shovel some more dirt!. The final touches on the pool. Footers get poured tomorrow or Tuesday. Helping out is our friend Aarron he showed up and grabbed a shovel. Sunday
