We start cabinets on Thursday, November 29, 2001

The kitchen cabinets, some assembly required. They are made by Ikea and are shipped flat. We chose Wisconsin Beech. This photo shows all of the cabinets. I do not know when we will get started on installing them since there are two uppers and two base cabinets that are damaged. We can put them together but cannot install - the key cabinets are the damaged ones. Would you really expect anything else?
Gretchen starting the assembly process.
The boxes are put together and ready to install, except for the damaged ones, of course. There is still quite a bit of work left on them.
This is our temporary kitchen, set up where the new cabinets will be going. It took 2 weeks from start to finish on the cabinets, not counting the delay while we waited on the replacement damaged cabinets.
The boxes are hung on the wall with a long horizontal bracket that supports them. Each cabinet is not screwed into the wall individually, they are attached to the bracket.
Doors on
Appliances in, temporary refrigerator. Countertop not on yet.
The first meal cooked in the new kitchen. If you are building your own house you can certainly relate to this moment! Wednesday December 19, 2001
The completed kitchen, stainless steel appliances, laminate countertop, tile backsplash.
Whew.
