Camp 8 is a great place to work.
Lashing winds, horizontal snow, almost daily
whiteouts, and occasionally a sunny day.

To reach Camp 8 you must be roped up.
There are big crevasses under the snow.
Jacker in front, Cathy next and O'Callahooligan last.
This Camp has the best weather on the Icefield. The wind blows here most of the time. Some summers the wind is so strong we rig a rope from the main building to the outhouse to keep you from being blown off the hill. The wind also gave rise to an elite group of people known as R.A.S.H.. When the hand-held anemometer redlines on the scale you have to go up on the roof, strap yourself into a chair type arrangement, sit there and drink a cup of tea. Of course, you must face the wind. Only then can you become a member of the Redline Anemometer Suicidal Horde. Oh, redline is 100mph, and remember we are not talking gusts.
