Camp 10 radio room

Donner performing the critical
radio duties in the "original"
radio room at Camp 10.
Donner, Jacker and others
have since updated this particular building.

  Generator install

Donner in one of his finer moments.
Guiding the new generator into it's new home.
The generator is slung from
a 100ft. (33 meter) cable
attatched to a Areospatiale helo.

More of our buddies!
Mongo and Torgememnon! Posing for a photo opportunity in front of the original
Camp 10 cook shack.
We did a remodel of this building in 1990.

  Cookshack Remodel

And speaking of the remodel!
Here it is!
All supplies were flown in
by Areospatiale helos.
What a place to work huh???
So what adventure did the infamous Donner and Jacker have in this wonderful place??? Ok....here we go.... Jacker was driving his mighty over-snow vehicle (Thiokol Imp model 1404) across the glacier returning from Camp 18 to Camp 10 on a supply run. Heavily laden with luxury items (chocolate brownie mix, M&M's, and cases of pasta for Donner's "Pasta Cafe"...and don't forget the toilet paper!). Suddenly the Thiokol is herkin' and jerkin'. "Whadda madda here?" says Jacker. The engine dies! I hate it when this happens....so who ya gonna call? Donner at Camp10-Donner's Thiokol Repair! So i am on the mighty CB radio, tryin to contact Donner. "Camp 10, Camp 10 Camp 10....This is Jacker!" Donner comes back "Jacker, Jacker, Jacker". Over the CB Donner walks me through finding a broken sparkplug wire. I frantically search the machine for a spare. None to be found. Donner says "Take your passenger windshield wiper wire and put it inside a piece of gas line (to insulate the wire) and then use that as your sparkplug wire". The machine magically starts and the journey continues.....saved again by Donner!
